It was the last day of spring And all the light you bring Was nestling in the arms of all I am. The open sky became A palette of your name Writ tall and large for the world to see. And the words you gave were an endless sigh. And the love you gave was a heartfelt cry. My world was about to begin On the last day of spring. And the world was an empty cradle; My soul was an unwritten label; No time, No place, No within; On the last day of spring. On the last day of spring. On the last day of spring.

Shot down; you fly like a bird of flame. Dragged round; you're down on your luck again. Bad town; the faces all seem the same. Slammed round; your word's all you've got to show. You got so high but now all you see is the low You're three miles high with lifetime still to go. You got back the time you took to get away. Pain black the time you thought that light would fade. You only ever wanted to kiss the sky Never stopped to ask yourself the reason why, Burning ember three miles high. Burned so bright as the sun was getting low, All ashes and drifting trails of smoke Fading lights in a passing theatre show. Sky high pride you're a slave to the gravity Too shy to show your full majesty, Towed line drawing up your tragedy. Change tack on the vow you never made. Paint the holes in the cracks of the portrait you portrayed. You only ever wanted to kiss the sky Never stopped to ask yourself the reason why, Burning ember three miles high You know it's real life; it's not your fantasy Because your day's less sense than all your wildest dreams. You only ever wanted to kiss the sky Never stopped to ask yourself the reason why, Burning ember three miles high

Love, like, share it or rate it, Hate and berate it, leave it or share, It’s all the same to me. Connect, tie, find and make friends, yeah Break and create ends, making amends For what you used to be. Anyone to anywhere, in every form and everything (Book of souls) Expand, lie, describe and create it, Fabricate it; bending and shaped To what you want to see. Cut, paste, edit and shape it, Filter and fake it, wipe and erase; The form you wish to be. Anyone to anywhere, in every form and everything (Book of souls) Wipe the stain of all you feel inside. Build the wall you hope to hide behind. Guard the door and keep shut tight inside. So much you’ve left outside to find. Anyone to anywhere, in every form and everything (Book of souls)

Hold on, my girl, where you running to? Too long gone from my world, now you're breaking through. Your song rings on in my memory. Three days of stolen nights Your eyes lit the spark. Remorse mixed in delight- A faltering start. Mixed lines, loose wires, cross ties, Lost in the dark. A morning's prayer, an evening's scheme, A lover's dream, My darling KC. Hold on, my girl, we're going round again. More real this time, more to lose than gain, Your song rings on, draws me in again. Your hand upon my heart, You cut to the core. You faced your crowd and took your bow To leave me wanting more. Set fair to bear the weather out on the moor. All wind and wild; my winter's child My sceptered isle, My darling KC. So long-left out to wander lost. Cold, long-fire and ice, winter fronts. Foregone-melting me down once again. Melting me down once again. Hold on, my love, where're you going to? My gold in soul got sold and I'm in hock to you. One word, one song, should just see me through. Too hot to hold, too strong to fold, Won't you me my way? To learn to fly, to live the lie, That I'll be okay. Just give my hope and take my soul Just for a rainy day. All that is and all that was And all that ever will, My darling KC.

Fall low at the end of the show, Dropped upon a sword that was yours but ended taken. Free load, you gave your mind and your soul, And everything got broken from the heart you left wide open. Space and time; it may not heal but helps to cleanse the wounds You went and heaped upon yourself. Call out a cry in the dark A hope against the rage of all the genies in the bottle Let out, three wishes apart, They turned the dreams you wanted into someone else’s nightmare. Time and space; not always enough to numb the aches and pains You went and heaped upon yourself. Well I don’t know your face now, just your name, Returns the memories time again, There’s nothing left for you to take back Take a bow and fade to black. Let go, not a thing you can show; You started off with little and you ended up with nothing. Tales told, a fable of old, A fantasy to spin around the years close to bedtime. Night and day, will pass you by in circles time again, A sentence you imposed upon yourself. Well I don’t know your face now, just your name, Returns the memories time again, There’s nothing left for you to take back Take a bow and fade to black. Face stares back from pictures cracked Memories fade but the feeling stays the same. Well I don’t know your face now, just your name, Returns the memories time again, There’s nothing left for you to take back Take a bow and fade to black.

My God I woke up sore from the night before with a doubt ringing in my head. Did we really do the things we said we’d do? Did we mean the words that we said? When I saw the score, I knew all before had come crashing round our heads, The morning news that I woke up to focussed all of my nagging dreads. So I say my friends, you ought to leave, This house just aint a home You’d want to bring your kids into; You’re better off alone. This aint love, this aint love But there’s no word to describe the feeling. Well it don’t take a drink to make me think we’re hardly swimming in the pink, But when the belt gets tight it gets hard to fight the reason money’s getting thin, You’re getting less for more and one thing’s for sure, it’s not the outside that’s causing the rot withing So cross your fingers, pray for luck, and hope that ship’s still coming in. So I say my friends, you ought to leave, This house just aint a home You’d want to bring your kids into; You’re better off alone. This aint love, this aint love But there’s no word to describe the feeling. If you build a wall you’re a stuck with what’s inside If you scratch the surface beware what underlies. There’s an irony to the idea of ‘mankind’ At the top the ladder you’ll find we’re find, So pull the ladder you know we’re fine. Well now I’d love to say Theresa May, but there’s no way I ever think she would, Save all that there is to lose when you’re free to choose to cash the chips in. So I say my friends, you ought to leave, This house just aint a home You’d want to bring your kids into; You’re better off alone. This aint love, this aint love But there’s no word to describe the feeling.

Embers 04:22
The day, the night, the light you gave; The moment gone; the thought you saved; The glow inside that fades away An ember of the dying day. The road, the map; the path you take; The fault, the crack; the line you break; The shadows fall, the darkness calls; The embers of the dying day. Today, we’re so caught up within the moment We’re forgetting just to live within the day. Tell me is it real; the loneliness we feel, Or is it just the door we leave wide open to the world? Tell me it real; the way it makes you feel, Or is it just a poster on the wall to hide the emptiness inside? The snap, the crack, the biting down; The mile, the pose, the angry frown; The words you take, the love you make; The thoughts you share for your own sake. We laugh, we cry, we give it out; We cry, we rage, we sigh, we shout; The time that’s lost; the price we pay; The embers of the dying day. Today we’re so caught up with our own giving We’ve lost the way to smile and to take. Tell me is it real; the loneliness we feel, Or is it just the door we leave wide open to the world? Tell me it real; the way it makes you feel, Or is it just a poster on the wall to hide the emptiness inside? We talk and write, but never seem to hear, Were caught within the sound but not the word. Tell me is it real; the loneliness we feel, Or is it just the door we leave wide open to the world? Tell me it real; the way it makes you feel, Or is it just a poster on the wall to hide the emptiness inside?

You’ll never catch the sun Hiding in the Fog You’ll never see what’s won By counting up the cost; For all you think you fight in vain I’ll tell you the war is won. You claim it’s all on you You take the blame too much, You don’t see what you what you do To everything you touch; You claim it’s from gold to rust I tell you it’s not the war you’ve won. Turning circles in a concrete square; Building a mountain from solid air; Giving it all and never taking back; Covering your head from invisible flack; Bracing yourself to take it on the chin; Too lost in the dark to let the light on in; To show the love that shines on you. So stand up in the sun, Stop hiding in the fog, See the road run, You’ll never end up lost. And though you think you fight in vain, I’ll tell you the war is won.

Back To Life 03:54
There’s no cloud of grey in the sky today, Do I pray for rain, or just keep my pain? As you called my name, as you turned to say, That I’d make your day if I’d only stay I caught the sound, the word, the light, But I just can’t speak, I fill with fright. There’s much I need to say, to do To get my feelings through. Oh if I fall before I fly. If my wings get clipped, if my feet get tripped, If fall to the floor and I die; Be the magic kiss, be the state of bliss, Be the tidal shift that makes me lift, Be the words I breathe, be the light I see, Bring me back to, back to, back to, back to life. When your bright eyes smile, when you show your style I’m just rank and file but I stand amazed. Is this all there is, would a blessed kiss Make me feel enriched or lost within? I’ve got to be much more than this, Than day to day repeat exist, There’s less I am than you believe But still I live in hope.

Lullaby 04:49
The moon is high, the sun had to fall, And you, my love, must answer its call and dream. See the world anew. In a silent hour; while the world is at rest, In a circle of light, you my child are blessed. It’s all in front of you. And the world turns to see you through. And the world turns because of you. We’re both in a dream now. Sail on young sailor, Find a star and sail to her Sail on young sailor, Cast drift and find a star, guide to where you are and reach to her. It’s all in your mind, it’s a vision so clear, So open your hear I am here. And the world turns to see you through. And the world turns because of you. We’re both in a dream now. So close your eyes, and float on away. You’re fathoms deep, so swim right away; There’s nothing that you can’t be. The stars in your eyes, and the sun in your heart, It’s all in your hand so make the start and prove There’s nothing that you can’t be.

about

After the events that lead to, and the release of Begin Again, it felt like the need to close the book and start again. After two very reflective albums filled with me pushing myself as a writer and arranger, it felt right just to let things happen in a more carefully considered and yet more simplistic way. It also felt like time to let go a little and get some other people in on the act.

The result is ten songs written and demoed acoustically, considered carefully and then recorded with maximum energy and impact alongside some talented friends, and produced half way across the world for that extra space. Lyrically in the now, and celebrating the love of the musical styles which got me into this game in the first place, Another Life is the sound of me just enjoying what I do. I hope you enjoy the sound of it too!
