The song that set the tone for the whole album; the one that made me think that the more live sound was the way forward and that Craig would be the man to polish this one off. It's a reference back to my health troubles and the support I've been given in the last two years by those nearest and dearest. A thank you, a celebration and a wish.
lyrics
There’s no cloud of grey in the sky today,
Do I pray for rain, or just keep my pain?
As you called my name, as you turned to say,
That I’d make your day if I’d only stay
I caught the sound, the word, the light,
But I just can’t speak, I fill with fright.
There’s much I need to say, to do
To get my feelings through.
Oh if I fall before I fly.
If my wings get clipped, if my feet get tripped,
If fall to the floor and I die;
Be the magic kiss, be the state of bliss,
Be the tidal shift that makes me lift,
Be the words I breathe, be the light I see,
Bring me back to, back to, back to, back to life.
When your bright eyes smile, when you show your style
I’m just rank and file but I stand amazed.
Is this all there is, would a blessed kiss
Make me feel enriched or lost within?
I’ve got to be much more than this,
Than day to day repeat exist,
There’s less I am than you believe
But still I live in hope.
Oh if I fall before I fly.
If my wings get clipped, if my feet get tripped,
If fall to the floor and I die;
Be the magic kiss, be the state of bliss,
Be the tidal shift that makes me lift,
Be the words I breathe, be the light I see,
Bring me back to, back to, back to, back to life.
