about

Another rant against the human condition in the modern era of social media. All for instant gratification and attention in a world that doesn't really care any more than it did before. In touch instantly, but not always necessarily any closer. All under a blanket of ELO, country sounds an a smattering of a band I was fortunate enough to drum for called Nine Violets.

lyrics

The day, the night, the light you gave;
The moment gone; the thought you saved;
The glow inside that fades away
An ember of the dying day.

The road, the map; the path you take;
The fault, the crack; the line you break;
The shadows fall, the darkness calls;
The embers of the dying day.

Today, we’re so caught up within the moment
We’re forgetting just to live within the day.

Tell me is it real; the loneliness we feel,
Or is it just the door we leave wide open to the world?
Tell me it real; the way it makes you feel,
Or is it just a poster on the wall to hide the emptiness inside?

The snap, the crack, the biting down;
The mile, the pose, the angry frown;
The words you take, the love you make;
The thoughts you share for your own sake.

We laugh, we cry, we give it out;
We cry, we rage, we sigh, we shout;
The time that’s lost; the price we pay;
The embers of the dying day.

Today we’re so caught up with our own giving
We’ve lost the way to smile and to take.

Tell me is it real; the loneliness we feel,
Or is it just the door we leave wide open to the world?
Tell me it real; the way it makes you feel,
Or is it just a poster on the wall to hide the emptiness inside?

We talk and write, but never seem to hear,
Were caught within the sound but not the word.

Tell me is it real; the loneliness we feel,
Or is it just the door we leave wide open to the world?
Tell me it real; the way it makes you feel,
Or is it just a poster on the wall to hide the emptiness inside?
