about

A song that plays a lot with dynamics, and this was one I couldn’t decide for a good long time how much vocal input I wanted to have on it. In the end I decided to take the lion’s share with the just the chorus taken by Gemma. I’m glad I took the effort on this one. A lot of pushing, but I think it sounds as though it has more feeling and the voices really blend well on this. Listening back I'd forgotten how much I'd really invested in voice and harmony in these recordings! The louds and the softs in this work really well I feel, with one of the few occasions of me ‘really rocking out’ in the middle section!

lyrics

And when the morning comes and the roll is called,
Will I stand to be counted or find myself lost?
Thinking ‘it’s ok, it’s all fine’.
When I look within will I find me there
Or will I open the door to find the cupboard bare?
Thinking ‘it’s ok, it’s all fine’.

When you’re searching for the meaning, when all you know has gone
When the daylight turns to evening,
Sets to flame all you know within;
Burnt to shadows come creeping in,

Falling gently,
Falling bare,
Falling gently,
Darkness wraps its arms around,
Silence steals every sound you make.

When you’ve slogged your hardest and the ball’s been caught,
When you’ve donned the armour and the wars been fought,
Will you think ‘It’s Ok, it’s all fine’?
When you’ve lost before you even begun,
When you’ve bought the ticket after somebody won
Will you think ‘It’s ok, it’s all fine?’

Falling gently,
Falling bare,
Falling gently,
Darkness wraps its arms around,
Silence steals every sound you make.

Falling gently,
Falling bare,
Falling gently,
Falling bare
Darkness wraps its arms around,
Silence steals every sound.
