about

Musically, the first track to be recorded. This was the tone setter; a genre straddling experiment which incorporates element s of rock and dance. This has three separate drum tracks on it, so you can see that I’ve been experimenting with how to make rhythms sound simple and complex, This was never intended as a Hobson track, but the voice register in which I placed it; and actually got some radio play from, was never quite right for my ears. Gemma manages to sing this an awful lot more comfortably.

lyrics

You’ve sat in the night for far too long,
Wrapped in shadows, huddled ‘til the dawn
But you can’t sing, ‘til you choose to write your song.

You’ve got, got, got to get away,
You’ve got to get away and fly.

Tied down by the others in your sphere,
Weighted down by demands only you can hear,
Let go of all that useless fear,

You’ve got, got, got to get away,
You’ve got to get away and fly.

(Tossed by the winds of fortune)
Twisting in the net that caught you
(Looking for the door you’d walk through)
Try to find a way back home to
(The golden glow you still remember)
Where days still merge and time just slips away,
Days still merge and time just slips away,

I want to see you dance in light again,
Get up and join the fight again,
Smile wide and light the room again,

You’ve got, got, got to get away,
You’ve got to get away and fly.

Twisting in the net that caught you
(Looking for the door you’d walk through)
Try to find a way back home to
(The golden glow you still remember)
Where days still merge and time just slips away,
Days still merge and time just slips away,

Take flight, soar again just like love
Gain sight, see the picture form above,
You’ll know you’re more than good enough.

You’ve got, got, got to get away
Stretch out, break the rusty chains,
Take heart find yourself again,
Throw back, let go of the pain.
You’ve got, got, got to get away,
You’ve got, got, got to get away and fly.
