about

90% of this is me, but without the input of Chris Ferguson, who gave me inspiration for a lyrical theme, I would probably be still writing the words to this now. Intended as a Hobson song, I worked it over for my own sound. The rhyff was the central point from which I built the whole piece and it expanded into what one friend was kind enough to call a ‘pure slice of positivity’ which was the entire intention. It’s a love song pure and simple, but the love that goes just beyond the superficial and into the spiritual. That moment that cannot be explained by anything where you know that this is it. Gemma had a very clear idea on the where the vocals were going with this, and manages to deliver it with more clarity and conviction that I could!

lyrics

Something keeps me running, something keeps me drawn,
Like a force that pulls me ever deeper that I can’t control.
There’s madness in this method, I just don’t understand
It’s like sinking deep and drowning when I’m on dry land.

There’s no explanation, it’s against my reason
But I can’t hold this force of nature
The answer is there is no answer;
No fortune, fate or random chances.

I don’t know what any of this means,
But technology and faith they hold no key
Whatever it is that takes control of me
Is what science and religion just don’t see.

I can’t control my actions, thinking, feelings anymore,
My movements aren’t my own, they make themselves.
While I know this flame could burn me deep
I can’t help but go to this blinding light, this second sight,
This fire within my soul.

There’s no explanation, self-reflection
Just motivation, proclamation,
My answer is to give no answer,
Just move to the fates like fortune’s dancer.

I don’t know what any of this means,
But technology and faith they hold no key
Whatever it is that takes control of me
Is what science and religion just don’t see.

Like a golden dream like I’m seventeen,
Like the final shot of the movie scene,
Like a golden breath, like I’m out of depth,
It’s the biggest hit you’ve ever felt.

There’s no explanation, it’s against my reason
But I can’t hold this force of nature
The answer is there is no answer;
No fortune, fate or random chances.

I don’t know what any of this means,
But technology and faith they hold no key
Whatever it is that takes control of me
Is what science and religion just don’t see.
