This one came pretty much formed musically very quickly, it was something that just seemed to flow naturally in the musical sense. Lyrically, it took several drafts before I was anything like happy. A great pair of performances from both Craig and Gemma here, pitch perfect from the word go. A fireside crackler.
lyrics
Hold on, my girl, where you running to?
Too long gone from my world, now you're breaking through.
Your song rings on in my memory.
Three days of stolen nights
Your eyes lit the spark.
Remorse mixed in delight-
A faltering start.
Mixed lines, loose wires, cross ties,
Lost in the dark.
A morning's prayer, an evening's scheme,
A lover's dream,
My darling KC.
Hold on, my girl, we're going round again.
More real this time, more to lose than gain,
Your song rings on, draws me in again.
Your hand upon my heart,
You cut to the core.
You faced your crowd and took your bow
To leave me wanting more.
Set fair to bear the weather out on the moor.
All wind and wild; my winter's child
My sceptered isle,
My darling KC.
So long-left out to wander lost.
Cold, long-fire and ice, winter fronts.
Foregone-melting me down once again.
Melting me down once again.
Hold on, my love, where're you going to?
My gold in soul got sold and I'm in hock to you.
One word, one song, should just see me through.
Too hot to hold, too strong to fold,
Won't you me my way?
To learn to fly, to live the lie,
That I'll be okay.
Just give my hope and take my soul
Just for a rainy day.
All that is and all that was
And all that ever will,
My darling KC.
